A lot of Newcastle United fans remember the days of Yohan Cabaye as the Evening Chronicle continue their discussion for moments of the decade.
One of the selections for the top ten players was, of course, the Frenchman who may have left in bad circumstances but provided two and a half years of joy to many Toon fans.
Cabaye, who is now rated at £1.8m, was a dream in the midfield.
He was the perfect combination of technical ability and midfield bite.
He quickly became a fan-favouite thanks to numerous accomplished displays and stunning goals and has to be considered one of our most important signings.
Picked up for just £4.3m in the summer of 2011 – Cabaye became one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and played a crucial role in our best season in recent years when we finished fifth.
However, unfortunately, when PSG came calling in January 2014, Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear decided to cash in, and our season unraveled from there.
Was Cabaye Graham Carr's best signing for Newcastle?
Yes
No
Cabaye played 93 games for the Toon scored 14 goals and provided 18 assists, and he will always be remembered fondly by the Geordie faithful.
See the best of the reaction below.
Best all round footballer we’ve had in midfield the past ten years.
Absolutely should have been sent off here playing for Palace, missed that penalty for them.
Will be remembered more fondly again in future.
The rarely seen Frenchman who’ll get stuck in. https://t.co/QMS1fmQD4b— NUFCThreatLevel (@NUFCThreatLevel) November 19, 2019
What a player! Tiote and Cabaye perfectly complimented each other

I remember how miffed I was when we shipped off Kevin Nolan and this new French bloke was brought in. Little did I know how good he would turn out to be.
Carr’s best signing by far for me.— Steve Tough (@SteTough) November 19, 2019

Cabaye, Tiote and James Perch. What a midfield 3 that was. No Joke.

Always made me laugh the way Cabaye would clean a player out with a challenge that should have been a card, but got away with it loads thanks to his dough eyes and sorry face.
