Speaking earlier to local French rag, L’Equipe. Yohan Cabaye has urged the new French recruits to learn the English language as quick as they can.

Even Geordie would be acceptable in my eyes.

Anyway, he said, ‘We are in England, so it’s logical to learn the language as quickly as possible,’

‘The easiest way would be not to learn it, but that would be disrespectful. If ten Italian players came into a French club, we would like them to learn our language.

‘It’s up to the elders like me, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa and Romain Amalfitano to fulfil our role and help our fellow countrymen to communicate with their team-mates.’

Talk that Alan Pardew plans to fine those that are slow to learn the lingo is maybe a bit excessive because there’s not a lot of talking goes on, on the pitch apart from shouts of. ‘SSSHHHHHHHOOOOOOLLLAAA!!’ or ‘WWIIILLLLLLLLOOOOOOOO!!’.

Translate that.
