We’ve got snow hope, or have we?

Picture the scene…

Newcastle are 2-0 up against Chelsea with 5 minutes to go. The crowd are in full voice singing the old classic (rehashed to fit the manager’s name) ‘Walking in a winter wonderland’. Snow is steadily falling, with the player’s breath clearly visible through the afternoon chill. It’s what football is all about and who are we to try and change that?

Games over the years in the snow have had a cup match feel to them. It’s a bit like driving in the snow where you just don’t know what to expect, no matter how cautious you are. Hopefully a full house and a big TV audience will be incentive enough for us to go for their throats this Sunday, victory providing our lads with another rung to go up in the survival ladder.

There have been murmurs of postponements, maybe to help a Chelsea team bereft of talent, due to injuries and suspensions. Also whispers of crisis even amongst their ranks. ‘Laughable’, we may say but not a good time for them it seems with confidence probably at its lowest in recent times.

Assistant managers being replaced by unknowns, the manager coming out and saying he hasn’t got full control, only scoring one goal in about four league games or something. It can only go two ways with a favourable one for us being the viable option.

So in all honesty, we cant be playing them at a better time. We on the other hand are missing a few ourselves but the pressure is off for this one and the players should be fired up regardless. Talk of playing down our chances shouldn’t happen, we need to be at them from the off and see what they’re made of, but this is the Toon and which version is gonna turn up on Sunday? We wait and see as always.

Howay the Toon…
