Leeds made it back-to-back wins and further eased the pressure on Garry Monk with the two-nil win at Cardiff merely increasing the pressure on his counterpart at the Bluebirds Paul Trollope after a two-nil win at the Cardiff city Stadium.

Pressure is something Owen Coyle is also under at Blackburn but a first win in the league would have eased this a little as Rovers came from behind to beat Rotherham four-two at Ewood Park in the end.

A week that saw Brentford win at Brighton and draw at Aston Villa ended with the Bees recording a resounding five-nil win over Preston at Griffin Park with Brighton’s recovery from that defeat the weekend prior carried on with them seeing off Burton one-nil at the Pirelli Stadium.

Huddersfield not only retained the lead at the top of the table they extended it with a recovery to a first defeat seeing a two-one win over QPR increase the lead over Newcastle, who lost two-nil to Wolves, and Barnsley, who lost against Reading, who were in second and third prior to the weekend.
