Newcastle secured a win over Rotherham in the Championship on Saturday.
Brighton had retaken the lead in the Championship on Friday but it didn’t last long as Newcastle reacted with a 4-0 win against Rotherham to put the Magpies back to the top of the table and leave the Millers stranded at the foot and nine points from safety.
Daryl Murphy – who has now scored in each of his last three – put Newcastle ahead in added time at the end of the first half. Matt Ritchie’s second half brace and another from Ayoze Perez sealed the point.
