The Premier league have various awards and one of our players has been picked for the short list of the player of the month for September.

Club captain Jamaal Lascelles is the one on the seven man list although it’s fair to say he wont win it, at least he’s been recognised.

Lascelles in on there for a variety of footballing reasons aside from the good captaincy role he is doing. Not least for that last gasp goal line clearance away to Swansea coupled with him heading in the winner.

A feat repeated the following week at home to Stoke as well as Lascelles playing a major part in us having a good run.

Lascelles joins the media’s favourite in Harry Kane, who will win the monthly award, Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, Pascal Gross, Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero with the official result out soon.

Just the fact that Lascelles is even mentioned on the list shows his growing reputation as an upcoming English defender who could work his way into the international set up. It should also see his transfer value increase and intensify talk of his new contract being signed soon.
