Shorn of his midfield, full backs and the majority of his strike force, Joe Kinnear has again stressed the importance of getting some new players into the club in double quick time. With the bench full of bairns and the treatment room packed with malingerers he has appealed to Mike Ashley to relax his ‘sell before you buy` attitude. Kinnear said:

“I`ve made this statement to the owners so that they are aware of the situation. The people that we`ll have on the bench against West Ham are only kids. Tamas Kadar, Kazenga LuaLua, Ryan Donaldson – they are all young boys. They are all on standby for West Ham and Hull, though, as I don`t see us getting anyone else back.

I`m working with a small crew of players. Training is like dancing on eggs at the moment. We just keep it simple and hope that we can get 11 players out.”
