Moubarak Boussoufa would be interested in a return to England if Newcastle decide to follow up the early interest in him. The Anderlecht midfielder did spend some time with Chelsea as a teenager and he felt that he would’ve made the step up at Stamford Bridge had Roman Abramovich not spent so heavily on midfield recruits.

The Moroccan feels that he was about ready to move into the first team at Chelsea, but these arrivals cost him his chance and he was eventually released without playing a first team match, so he is keen to prove he can make it in England and has opened the door to Kevin Keegan: ‘I’m flattered by Newcastle’s interest. I spent two years with Chelsea, so I know what English football is all about,’ Boussoufa told the media.

‘I was on the point of breaking into the Chelsea first team before Roman Abramovich arrived. He signed seven star players and the youngsters did not get their chance.

‘I would not say no to a good offer from England. If Newcastle want me they must first speak to my club.’

Boussoufa is being heavily linked with the Toon, so with him now opening the door Keegan must decide if he will peruse the initial interest or look elsewhere?
