Although Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder filled in his weekend with a trip to Arsenal to watch the North London derby with Spurs, then jetted off to the continent to watch a game (supposedly) in Holland, his players were given a holiday.

United arrived back in Newcastle following their trip to Frankfurt the players given the weekend off.

All thanks, of course, to Chelsea. The London club could have forced Newcastle to play their Premiership match on Saturday as the title holders have a Champions League match on Tuesday. But they decided to give the Geordies the other option … play the match at a later date.
