Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after youth talent Tom Allan scored his ninth goal in nine appearances.
Allan struck his latest hit on Monday as the Toon beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the Premier League Cup, with the 20-year-old forward breaking the deadlock for his 13th of the campaign across all competitions.
The Newcastle-born prospect came close to making it ten goals in nine games later on into the PL Cup affair too, but saw his second-half penalty saved by Baggies ‘keeper Josh Griffiths.
Allan has been pleased with his form in front of the goal this season after only finding the back of the net five times in all competitions last term, though is already looking ahead to facing rivals Sunderland in the Premier League 2 next.
“I was pleased to get another goal,” Allan told NUFC.co.uk. “I feel like I’m doing well this season and probably could have got another today after missing the penalty. To be honest, I’m just happy that we were able to get the win and it gives us a really good chance of going through.
“It couldn’t have went much better with the two games before the game against Sunderland so everyone is buzzing. It should be a big one at St. James’ and hopefully we can get the job done there.”
Should Allan make his PL debut vs Arsenal on Sunday?
Yes
No
Allan has been named on the bench in two of our recent Premier League fixtures by head coach Steve Bruce, who awarded the academy product his senior Toon debut in the FA Cup Third Round Replay win over Rochdale last month.
