“Time to worry is when he stops” – These NUFC fans react to PL chart topped by £42k-p/w man

|

A few Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after it was shared that Miguel Almiron leads the Premier League for shots taken without finding the back of the net this season.

Almiron has attempted a total of 21 shots in the top-flight across his 12 appearances thus far, and of those only five have been on target with nine blocked and seven sailing wide of the mark.

The 25-year-old Paraguayan has tended to get into the penalty area before unleashing his shots on goal, too, with 14 of his total strikes attempted inside the box and one in the six-yard area to six from outside the box.

Only two of Almiron’s 21 shots have come from a free-kick, with 14 taken during open play, five coming as a result of a counter-attack and none from the penalty spot.

No player has attempted as many shots in the Premier League without scoring as our £42,327-per-week midfielder has so far managed this season, with West Ham United’s Felipe Anderson second having failed to turn home any of his 17 efforts.

AFC Bournemouth’s Philip Billing and Sheffield United’s David McGoldrick rank joint-third after failing to convert 16 shots each, while Chelsea’s Ross Barkley, and Everton’s Yerry Mina and Theo Walcott are joint-fifth with 15.

Will Almiron's first goal come against Villa?

Yes

No

Almiron is still waiting for his first goal for the club, after failing to convert any of his 19 shots taken in the 10 league games played last season following his £21million move from MLS side Atlanta United.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the Premier League chart for most shots taken without a goal this season…
