Tic Tac Toe

Im not taking the Mickey out of any tactics board within the Newcastle United training headquarters but one must wonder whether they’ve been using them for a good old game of noughts and crosses this season, such has been the disaster at times.

No goal from a corner since Poland was invaded, less clean sheets than a nunnery and a team so afraid to attack at times that you guess that they’ve developed a phobia to it.

Yep, it’s been that bad.

Stories have emanated recently of a growing unrest amongst the supporters, although in fairness it’s probably always been there and other stories that fans are fickle in this time of need. All claptrap.

From my personal point of view, I don’t hate Alan Pardew but i hate what we’ve become.

We were warned about his way of playing football and the way in which he gets found out after being at a club for over a year but i didn’t want this to be true or even happen here if it was.

The contradictory statements on top haven’t helped either.

We pay our money and we decide ourselves how to analyse a game, so don’t need to be told what we’ve witnessed was something else.

We’re not stupid, we’re not expectant and we’re no mugs.

On saying that though, we can sympathise to an extent for some injuries received but not fully because it’s part and parcel of the game. The very reason why the club shouldn’t be playing games with profit margins either in some sort of gamble, because that’s what this season was.

As everyone knows, gambling doesn’t always pay off and hopefully for everyone concerned, we don’t fall at the final fence.

With four games left, the tactic board needs torn down, the ambition levels raised or reinvigorated and the full focus on achieving the minimum two wins needed to guarantee safety before a full appraisal or overhaul starts at season’s end.

If Mike Ashley or some power that be wants to make a success out of a football club then it can’t be measured by how many noughts on a statement or the crosses on a cheque. No.

It’s measured by the faces of the punters as they leave the ground or their mood in their workplace, pub or home. It’s their lives.

Run correctly with ambitions and determination to succeed, all our lives will be reflected, it’s as easy as tic, tac, toe
