Maybe it’s because I’m a bit more distant than most to St James’ Park but I’ve noticed plenty of stories in recent times about Newcastle United fans turning up in their colours for Sunderland related events and I just don’t get it.
There have been photos circulated on social media of fans attending games at the Stadium of Light (to give it its proper name), I think I even stumbled over a few attending away games and there have been others. Most recently Sunderland appear to be undergoing a seat change exercise for some reason, and they’ve been relying on volunteers to help them out – and it’s happened again.

Thanks to those from @EE for volunteering their time today 👏

In the photos the shirt always stands out like a sore thumb and you can’t miss it, and I’m far from being the only one who just doesn’t get what this is about, but it’s beginning to do my head in now. Feels like I’m the only one not in on the latest internet gag.
It is making fans of both clubs smile though and that#s no bad thing.
Quite clearly the photo shows she is there under duress!! Hope she got out ok!
