Newcastle fans will not need reminding that the takeover talk has begun once more, with plenty of stories emerging from recent days.
Popular reporter from Twitter Graeme Bailey has now chipped in with his say, stating that after Newcastle checked in with the Premier League about the prospect of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund taking over the club, they have begun to take the takeover interest seriously.
Bailey is stating that it remains to be seen whether Mike Ashley will drop his asking price below £300m, which could seemingly cause problems for the transfer.
Do you think this takeover will happen?
Yes
No
The Telegraph has reported before that Yasir Al-Rumayyan – the chairman of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund – as well as the Reuben brothers and Amanda Staveley are still looking to buy the club, and subsequently reported the relevant information to the Premier League, allowing a fit and proper persons test to begin on the potential owners.
While it seems all Newcastle fans want is to get a new owner, not many are getting excited over these sorts of rumours, as many got carried away in January when they thought the deal would be done then.
Lots of people replied to Graeme Bailey, with some doubting the legitimacy of what he was tweeting, asking why the group would be so bothered about the club’s asking price dropping under £300m, when it is literally the Public Investment Fund of an entire country bankrolling the majority of this operation.

This is the first time I have heard yourself report anything about our takeover talks, why now?

Why would Saudis who are oil rich be on the hustle?! Just doesnt make sense. They are so rich they could pay whatever Ashley asked for and not sweat it. If they really want the club this deal should be straightforward. #nufcfakeover
