Newcastle United’s Under 23 side was in EFL Trophy action on Tuesday evening against Notts County and our young lads took a 2-0 victory on the evening, with goals coming from Callum Roberts with a tenth-minute penalty, and an Elias Sorensen effort in minute 56.
One of the talking points that came from the game – irrespective of what fans of any side think of the tournament since Category 1 Academy clubs were allowed into it against League One and Two opposition – was 19-year-old prospect Sorensen himself.
🎥 In-form Elias Sørensen spoke to NUFC TV after his latest goal helped Newcastle's under-21s beat @Official_NCFC in the Checkatrade Trophy this evening.

The Danish youngster is yet to make his senior bow for Newcastle but he has now had two effective competitive run outs in the competition and his development potential should be clear for all to see, as he’s scored in both games as we took maximum points so far.
Taking to social media following the game to discuss the victory though, it wasn’t necessarily his footballing talents that stole the show – the interview did that all on its own owing to his time with us.
haha that danish/geordie accent

The interview and the comments may have raised a smile, but that was a tasty finish.
