The Silent Protesters

Much has been said and written about the lack of ambition by the owner of Newcastle United. A certain Michael James Wallace Ashley.

Much has been debated about the forthcoming march around the city centre as well, which is seen as the beginning of a series of ideas to maybe force the owners hand to sell up or entice someone else to show their hand.

What hasn’t been advertised is a long standing campaign which a fair few have signed up to.

A campaign which is emotional, difficult to take part in and against everything a football supporter believes in and that is to boycott their own club.

Yes, to have had enough and bitten the bullet. Supporting from afar.

Not through choice but pain.

Our club has been abused beyond recognition and the ultimate price is paid by the fans. Those that remain maybe stand as a shell to what they once were. Some are oblivious to the passionate game whilst others just hope for change.

This wont come easy.

Saturday’s ‘Time4Change’ march may see the mindset changed further for some whilst the reality is that the club will never be the same and the silent protest numbers could rise.

Whatever happens, those that have left on a boycott have their reasons and they see it as helping the club in the long run.

Hopefully, everyone can come together at some point in the future under happier times as football can change in a heartbeat with Newcastle rocking once again.

It’s time for change.
