Having already tested the waters with a loan deal for a Dutch international called De Jong last season in a move that was a failure, there’s news tonight that we’re on the verge of adding the name permanently.

Only this time it’s not the striker Luuk but his attacking midfielder brother Siem.

Siem De Jong was apparently given permission to leave an Austrian training camp for his club Ajax after a fee was agreed with us. The talk is also that a medical has been done and dusted with only the ink to dry on the contract and the usual announcement on the club website to come.

The 25-year-old made his Ajax debut in 2005, and has made 244 appearances, scoring 78 goals, he has also won the Dutch league four times.

De Jong will increase the Dutch quota with Vurnon Anita, and Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul already at the club and may signal where the club’s efforts have turned to after the well documented French raids.
