In his usual Alan Oliver Friday Quote-fest young Tayls serves up the regular ‘must do better assessment`. Having been up there in the Man of the Match voting for the last few games Steve urges a resounding finale to the season:

“We’ve got two games left, and we want six points from them. Over the season, we know we’ve not been good enough in the league. Newcastle United should be in the top half of the table, not the bottom half. We’ve had some good results in the league – like at Blackburn – but we’ve been inconsistent. We were very good at Blackburn and we want another result like that. And we’ve got the players to do that – it’s just a case of doing our jobs.

It was nice to score my first league goal at Blackburn, but I don’t care who scores this time – I just want the three points. It’s our last home game and we want to send the fans home happy. They’ve not had much to cheer about this season, and we’ve got two games left to put a couple of good results on the board.’
