Glenn Roeder saw one of Newcastle’s Intertoto Cup opponents fall by the wayside on Saturday in Belfast.

Northen Ireland’s Dungannon Swifts played host to Icelandic side Keflavik in the second leg of their encounter. But the match finished goaless, and Keflavik will play Lillestrom in round two for the right to face Newcastle.

The Swifts couldn’t overturn the 4-1 defeat they suffered in Iceland. Newcastle will start the two-legged campaign on July 15/22, a win will guarantee their involvement in the qualifying rounds of next term’s UEFA Cup.
