Bruno Guimaraes looked destined for a long layoff when he left the field in tears in last week’s encounter against Fulham.
Since then scans on the affected ankle revealed that there was no ligament damage and the injury was not as bad as first feared. The initial assessment was that Bruno would be missing for weeks instead of months.
Even as late as this morning, we weren’t sure about a timeframe for his return as Eddie Howe spoke to the media saying as much, but now, Craig Hope of the Daily Mail has injected hope into the Toon Army with one simple tweet.
Bruno Guimaraes has recovered from the ankle injury sustained on Sunday & will be part of the Newcastle squad this weekend #nufc

The North East journo said “Bruno Guimaraes has recovered form the ankle injury sustained on Sunday & will be part of the Newcastle squad this weekend”.
Now it remains to be seen if Howe risks him from the outset for the full game, or eases him back to make sure there are no flare-ups.
After seeing the moment on replays and in still images it’s safe to say that Bruno has been extremely lucky to have got off as lightly as he did with this one, but ankles are a dodgy piece of anatomy and can often lure you into a false sense of security before buckling again. Obviously, Bruno and the club’s medical staff will have assessed the situation fully before making the call.
Fingers crossed it’s even better than we think and he can play the full game. A team with Bruno is often a winning one after all.
