Loads of Newcastle supporters have been reacting on social media lately, after reports from South America suggested Miguel Almiron had emerged as a shock potential target for Real Madrid.
The claim originated on Friday, when Tigo Sports journalist Markos Gonzalez tweeted that Los Blancos were scouting Almiron at this summer’s Copa America.
Gonzalez even claimed sources from Spain had confirmed the Galacticos’ interest, and the reports on Almiron’s future have sparked like wildfire since.

Likewise, the Mirror reported on Sunday evening that Almiron had caught the eye of Real Madrid, but suggested the fee Zinedine Zidane’s side would be willing to put on the table was £35million, signalling a £14million profit on the club-record £21m we spent to sign him in January.
The daily newspaper also claimed that Almiron is one of many first-team players who have an uncertain Magpies future at the moment, thanks to the lack of clarity regarding who will be in charge following the announcement that Rafa Benitez’s tenure will reach its end at the close of the month. However, any negotiations for our players or potential signings coming to Tyneside are on hold until all takeover talks conclude.
