Some Newcastle supporters have been reacting on social media after Liverpool released former Magpies target Daniel Sturridge, and have shared whether they think United should broker another move.
The former England international had been a target of Rafa Benitez during the winter market of 2018, but the Manchester City product opted to join West Bromwich Albion for the remainder of the season.
Sturridge was then offered to us for £15million last summer, but the boss had other targets in mind and chose against pursuing the 29-year-old – who would go on to win the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur, in a season where he made 27 appearances in all competitions and scored four goals.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, though, has taken the decision to allow the £130,000-a-week striker to move on from Anfield once his contract expires on June 30, which will likely see the 26-cap forward become one of the more sought-after free-agents.
But he has suffered persistent injury problems throughout his six-and-a-half years on Merseyside, which should cause any interested side to have more than their fair share of concerns.
Since leaving Chelsea for Liverpool in the winter of 2013, Sturridge has missed 99 games, totalling 567 days in the Reds’ medical room, and has failed to hit double figures in the Premier League since firing 22 goals in the 2013/14 campaign.
So when Newcastle supporters saw word that the Birmingham-born forward had been released by Liverpool, this is how these Magpies fans reacted…
Is he worth taking a risk on? Probably not but since Rondon looks out of the picture and we are penny counting, seems like the best and ONLY option to sign him. If he stays fit he will score goals. #NUFC

We should be in for him ???? and rondon but no chance of that happening . No ambition with Ashley in charge. I can see him signing for West Ham a team with ambition. #nufc
