“It’s not a red,” “Absolutely ludicrous” – A lot of Newcastle United fans cannot decide if Isaac Hayden’s challenge on Dennis Praet was a red card or not.
As the end of the first half approached Hayden decided to try and assert some dominance on the match and went in hard on the Belgian.
The result was a tackle that saw the Newcastle midfielder win the ball but also catch Praet high on the leg.
The referee decided that this was a red card and Newcastle will have to do without Hayden for the next three games.
It was a very similar challenge to that of Hamza Choudhury in the Carabao Cup meeting between the two sides last month.
In that game, the Leicester midfielder got away with a yellow card, but Matt Ritchie has been injured ever since.
These Newcastle fans can’t decide if it was a red card or not.
See the best of the reaction below.
That red is deserved. Headless challenge. Off you go, don’t even complain lad. All you. #nufc

Won the ball? Strong tackles not allowed anymore?

Got the ball with the side of his foot, slipped on the follow through and his studs came up, couldn’t help in those conditions

It’s not a red. Grow up

Many Toon fans are convinced that Hayden was hard done by and that he should not have been sent off.
Doesn’t matter – dangerously out of control.

Clearest red card you’ll see for a while that man.

Imagine thinking that isn’t a red card, bloody hell. Absolutely ludicrous decision to go in like that.

Other Newcastle supporters think Hayden’s challenge was disgusting and it was a deserved red card.
