Aside from the club staff and groundsman at St James’ Park all preparing things for the premier league season ahead, there are others not sunning themselves on a beach.

Aside from the kids in Adam Armstrong and Freddie Woodman away on England U20 World Cup duty in South Korea, some of the senior players have important games still.

Deandre Yedlin has two World Cup qualifiers coming up this weekend with games for the USA against Trinidad and Mexico although he hasn’t been selected for their Concacaf Gold Cup tournament so can jet off for a break next week.

Also in the same boat is Daryl Murphy who has a World Cup game for Ireland this weekend in Dublin. The opponents being Austria.

Three more of our players see potential games coming up with Aleksandar Mitrovic likely to play in Serbia’s World Cup game at home to Wales in Belgrade, Matz Sels may be on the bench for Belgium’s trip to Estonia and Chancel Mbemba should feature for Congo in their African Nations game against Congo this Thursday.

By this time next week, all of our players should be officially done for the 2016/17 season but by midweek the fixtures for the next one will arrive so they cant really get away from it for long.
