St James’ Park has been chosen to host another rugby match next year with local side Newcastle Falcons getting the chance to play there.

As well as the Magic Weekend next Summer, The European Champions Cup and Challenge Cup Finals in 2019, our home ground will add an Aviva Premiership match in which The Falcons play Northampton Saints on March the 24th and has been labelled ‘The Big One’

We dont have a fixture that weekend so im guessing there’s a chance that a few may turn up to watch the game, as it’s sandwiched between our game at Wembley with Spurs the weekend prior before our home game to Huddersfield on March 31st. Hopefully the pitch is in decent condition.

Speaking of the game, Newcastle Falcons Director of Rugby, Dean Richards was quoted on the official NUFC website as saying:

St James’ Park is an incredible stadium and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to take a game there.

The passion for sport in our region and the commitment from the public in supporting major sporting events is second to none, and it will be a memorable day which people will want to be part of.

Current NUFC Managing Director Lee Charnley added:

We`ve earned ourselves an excellent reputation in recent years for hosting top class rugby events at St. James` Park.

We are, once again, proud to be the venue of choice for yet another great occasion in the North East`s sporting calendar.
