Somethings Got To Give

It’s just gone 4 years since Freddie Shepherd sold out to the regime from ‘daann saaff’ and the toon rollercoaster has had a record ride with as many ups and downs as the best white knuckle attractions in the world.

Now,forgive me for my pessimism but something has to give soon as we’ve had this level part for too long, no significant climbs or no obvious drops. I sense an obstacle round the corner..

A football club cannot be run on having an ambition of ‘breaking even’ every year as eventually it’s customers will dwindle and go.

Kids get attached to players and mam or dad will stop buying shirts because that player name their child wants on the back isn’t guaranteed to be here for very long, all thanks to the advertisement that we are a feeder club. Someone explain to me why we should be a feeder club?

We have a turnover that puts us in the top 10 in the UK, potentially we should be top 6 with the right decisions being made here but they aren’t. We have a ground which when filled has us top 3 with the name of our club known the world over. Marketed right, we could do better here.

We read of teams buying players left, right and centre but we get forcefed excuses. West Ham got relegated and a picture was painted of doom and gloom financially but how have they managed to fund the signings they have made plus promise more?

Even Leicester,Brighton and other teams 1 or 2 divisions down have spent more than us on a budget that has no potential to improve. Probably ever. So why do we let ourselves be conned by the figures or general money grabbing? Some call it asset stripping but it’s lack of ambition in my view..

This can’t go on, the fans who still back the club are entitled to watch their team and i wouldn’t say anything against them but we can’t let the club continually be abused. We have kept the club going from it’s birth in 1892 and still continue to do so but we are the last people thought of when it comes to decisions.

Either the club show some ambition and spend on strengthening in the right areas or sell it to someone that will. No more excuses as it’s becoming embarrassing now.
