A number of Newcastle United fans have taken to social media to give their thoughts and reactions to the latest piece of transfer speculation as we’ve been linked to West Bromwich Albion youngster Oliver Burke.
The red tops took full advantage of the October international break and the Sun on Sunday (14/10-page 61) reported that we had sent a scout to their Under 23 EFL Trophy tie against Blackpool to look at the 21-year-old youngster and we were apparently in good company as a scout from Tottenham Hotspur was there as well.
Former Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig winger Burke was in good form on the day as he contributed an assist in the game as they took victory, but it’s fair to say a number of fans are less than impressed with the suggestion – not only owing to his lack of game time at the club following his £15million arrival but also because they believe there are more pressing issues in the squad – namely a goalscoring striker.
Might as well add more championship players, to get ready for next season. ????♂️

Given the source, I wouldn’t expect anything to come of this and most fans will think that under Mike Ashley we were more likely scouting Blackpool players rather than Burke, but he does have talent and Rafa Benitez could actually be the type of manager to get him back on track.
But I can’t see it.
