From Vital England:

‘Sol Campbell refuses to accept that his England career is over – this is something that he must accept as he is delusional to think this can change’, not my vote, yours – although these findings from pompeyrug’s poll are thoughts that I would agree with to be honest…

Whilst, to be fair, I must take my hat off and applaud Sol as he is not turning his back on his country as he is refusing to throw the towel in on England when other, and younger, players have lets face it his best, and most probably only, chance of an England return passed him during the summer.

When he returned to Arsenal last season few, myself included, expected him to play many games for his club let alone put himself in contention for a Three Lions return – although this is something that he did. Some fantastic performances for Arsenal left him with a chance, and more than an outside one, of going to South Africa although Fabio Capello preferred to bring in others or tempt others out of retirement ahead of him.

With that chance passing him by he has virtually no chance, despite continuing his top-flight career with Newcastle, of playing for his country again – although I guess you can never say never, right…

  • What the poll asked

Sol Campbell – delusional or realistic?

  • How you voted

Delusional – England days LONG gone 88%
Realistic – if he performs this season 12%
    Maybe, who knows… 0%
