It looks as if Sol Campbell has finally gone public on his desire to gain a move to SJP. Having nailed the other Magpies after just one game, he has now called out Chris Hughton to get him signed up. Sol said:

‘It [Newcastle] would be a great move for me. But who knows – hopefully people will sort things behind the scenes and I will get going and play football, which is all I want to do.

I am training at Arsenal and keeping fit, which is the main thing and that is fantastic. I needed to train somewhere, Arsene [Wenger] has done me a great favour and you can’t do any better than Arsenal.’

Meanwhile, Coach Chris commented:

‘Sol was at a function and he was asked the question. He has on a couple of occasions shown a desire to come to Newcastle. We are not aware what the situation is at the moment. As far as we know, he’s still a Notts County player on their registration. All the things we are aware of – most of it is coming from Sol.’
