Paul Merson does not believe that we will present Chelsea much of a problem on Sunday.
Predicting the result, he expects a 2-1 win for the away side and explaining his decision, he feels the poor atmosphere around the club could help the Blues take all three points:
“I think Newcastle are struggling. Why did they let Kenedy take the penalty against Cardiff? He was having a nightmare. There’s a bit of a feeling around Newcastle at the moment, and I think Chelsea will take advantage.”
In my view, if we play like we did against Spurs on the opening day, there is every chance we can get a result here. Maurizio Sarri is still settling in as Chelsea manager, and his attacking style of play will take some time to bed in.
Considering we caused a well drilled Tottenham outfit some problems, we should be well capable of exploiting vulnerabilities in a team who are very much a work in progress.
We will need more of a cutting edge than we had against Cardiff though, and I am hoping Rafa Benitez gives Salomon Rondon his first start, replacing Joselu, who was ineffective last time out.
