Moussa Sissoko, having practically begged Real Madrid to sign him this summer and expressing undying love for Arsenal in the past has joined north London rivals Tottenham after spurning Everton.

Rafa Benitez and Newcastle stood firm all summer with the valuation the club had of the 27-year-old and hadn’t really budged from it. Perhaps it dropped marginally from the initial £35m to the reported £30m Spurs have paid but that money is money many will feel is well past his true valuation.

It doesn’t matter too much to us where he’s gone the main thing is he’s gone and Newcastle have got what we wanted for him.

But he and/or his representatives showed a distinct lack of class once again as having apparently agreed to join Everton with everything all but agreed he then refused to take phone calls from the Goodison Park club with Spurs (earlier they refused) buckling to the asking price and agreeing to pay what we wanted so he joined them, where he’ll get his much wanted Champions League football.

This kind of deal happens all the time but I would like to think if it was me I would have at least had the respect to tell Everton I didn’t want the move.

It all leaves a sour taste in the mouth but the most important thing from a our point of view is we got the money wanted and we’ll not have to listen to his constant ‘I love this and that club’ talk anymore….

He’s signed a five-year contract with Spurs who will reportedly hand over five instalments of £6m to Newcastle to cover the £30m fee the French international has commanded.
