“Deluded” – A lot of Newcastle fans are fuming at Lee Charnley’s comments on the academy.
Charnley has broken his silence and has claimed that Newcastle want to have an academy player in the first team every year from now on.
This comes after the recent success of the Longstaff’s, but a lot of Newcastle fans are unhappy with the comments.
They want to know how Newcastle intends to do this without investment in the academy?
One of the many reasons why Rafael Benitez left was because Mike Ashley refused to put any funding towards the academy – so how do Newcastle intend to get better without this investment?
It certainly seems that they may have got lucky with the Longstaff brothers.
Certainly, these Newcastle fans are furious with Charnley’s latest quotes – as they don’t believe him.

Isn’t that basically what Rafa said he wanted the investment for?

Then you need to Invest in the academy, our academy is probably 10 years out of date

Shouldn’t be a problem when we are in the championship or league 1

It just shows they still don’t understand. Every club wants a player a year from the academy. Difference is most clubs invest to try and make that happen. This cannot be taken seriously when you look at young teams #NUFC
