A few Newcastle supporters have been reacting on social media to a report by the Express and Star, which claimed Wolverhampton Wanderers have begun talks with West Bromwich Albion over the permanent transfer of Salomon Rondon.
West Ham United are also still thought to be interested in signing the 29-year-old Venezuelan, but it is the Molineux outfit who have made the most progress in the discussions held thus far.
However, Wolves and West Brom’s valuations of the striker remain some way apart and a deal is by no means close, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are so far reluctant to meet the £16.5million release clause in Rondon’s Baggies contract, which is soon entering its final twelve months.
Wolves are also monitoring several younger alternatives who could move to the Black Country to serve as Raul Jimenez’s deputy, while Rondon weighs up the options currently on the table – which could include a return to St James’ Park following his year on loan.
The Chronicle, though, are not offering much confidence in our Player of the Season returning to Tyneside, as they have noted that all the uncertainty which has engulfed the Magpies must be resolved first.
But what may be somewhat optimistic is that Rondon is not thought to be in a rush to decide his future, and we have allegedly asked West Brom to keep us informed of any updates to the striker’s situation.
When the Express and Star’s report was shared on Twitter, however, here’s how these Newcastle supporters reacted…
We’ll wait until last minute by that point it’s too late. As per usual. Club probably arent even thinking about players right now.

He’s getting on in age now so at his value I think we should look at other options.
