Newcastle United secured a second win in a row on Saturday after edging past Bournemouth at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies had to wait until their 11th game of the season to register a win in the Premier League but have now surged up the standings after an improvement in form, which began after edging past Watford last week.
High-flying Bournemouth presented a much sterner test on paper though but Newcastle performed admirably to ensure all three points would remain on Tyneside – and one player, in particular, caught the eye.
After failing to score in his first six appearances for the Magpies, Salomon Rondon registered a brace against the Cherries to open his account and it presents the West Brom loanee with a platform to build upon.
With Newcastle crying out for improvements in front of goal, Rondon’s Man of the Match performance has provided inspiration to fans who had started to fear the worst.
