Olivier Bernard says the Newcastle dressing room seems strange without Alan Shearer.
Bernard: ‘It is strange in the dressing room. The first time I got in, I did not see him and it was weird. But that is the way it is.
‘This season with the squad we have now, we should be looking to reach the top four – that is our ambition, to get back into the Champions League. We will do everything we can to get into that top four.’
‘It feels like I never left. I was only away 18 months, so I did not really have time to realise I was not a Newcastle player. But I am happy to be back here again. As soon as I got that call, two hours later I signed the contract, so it was quite quick.
‘Mistakes happen and I am sure I will not do it again. Myself and the fans were quite disappointed – and I was more disappointed than anybody else.
But these things you have got to do in life. I made the decision, but I regretted it straight away.’
