When a Geordie goes to London to live and work there`s near a reasonable chance they`ll become an utter knob. For every one that stays true to their roots there is generally another who tries to blend in so hard with the cognoscendi that they make themselves look a tit. Witness Sting selling out his roots to be accepted by the ‘London scene`. Whilst Ant and Dec remain the people`s choice as best Geordie double act, the twin pantomime villains have to be the odious Custis brothers who work for The Sun, who perennially seize the chance to aim poisonous darts at the club they claim to support.

Today ‘loyal Newcastle fan` Shaun has continued his stirring of the pot with a new story on the tedious Michael Owen and England non-starter he`s been covering all week. His opening line reads:

“The simmering tension between Michael Owen and his Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce stretches back nearly two years.”

Righto Shaun – this gathering of top inside information will no doubt be gleaned by your continued presence up on Tyneside. Maybe not. Is it perchance fermented whilst sat at your desk in Murdoch Towers munching on a Custard Cream? Fu**ing hell Shaun – using two year old quotes to try and eek out a bit more controversy in a story, complete with opinion from the usual ‘unnamed source` smacks of desperation.
