On Thursday evening Matt Ritchie accepted a charge from the Football Association and has been banned for the final two games of the Championship campaign.

The misconduct charge that was alleged, and subsequently accepted, said that the player has used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official in or around the tunnel area following the conclusion of the game against Leeds United back on April 14.

Quite why the news took this long to come through I don’t know, but the Independent Regulatory Commission fined him £5000 for the breach and gave him an immediate and automatic two game suspension.
