There’s news tonight that isn’t good on Newcastle United’s Italian player Davide Santon.

The defender injured his knee at the back end of last season and missed the rest of the campaign.

He was originally given a timescale after his operation, that he’d be back for the start of this season but it was then mentioned that it would be September.

However, news tonight has his return penicilled in for November at the earliest.

Alan Pardew stated to the shields gazette:

The news on Davide`s not particularly great, He had an operation in the summer.

When the surgeon looked at his knee, there was a little bit more damage there than he thought.

It now looks like mid-November rather than October.

With options on paper at left back, his return may seem like it’s no great deal but the versatile Italian offers much more than his position dictates, although personally id play him in midfield.

Hopefully he fully recovers and realises the potential that is undoubtably there.
