Following a promising few weeks at the start of the season when our defence seemed as tight as a drum, we`ve now conceded five in our last two games. This hasn`t escaped the attentions of the gaffer who was quick to comment to the Chronicle:

“Obviously, I`ve got some concerns that we conceded two goals. The first one was very poor defensively from a back four and midfield point of view. The second one was a fluke, so we can forget that a little bit. But there were some good defensive performances. However, at certain stages of the game – even though we were in complete control – we should have nullified Everton`s attacking when they were in their best spell. We didn`t do that and they scored. So that`s something to work on.

It was Jose Enrique`s first Premier League start. I was comfortable with him, and I hope he grows with the team. We had Claudio back again. He has terrific experience, which is what you need. Overall, it was a great performance and three great goals.”
