Plenty of Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter to quotes from Steve Bruce which suggest the 23-year-old is not a natural goalscorer.

The Brazillian attacker has had a tough time since joining for a record fee from Hoffenheim. In his 26 league appearances, he has only managed to score on one occasion, all the way back in August.

With many fans at the club running out of patience in the player, Steve Bruce spoke to the Chronicle and said that the forward is too team-orientated at the top of the pitch and needs to be more selfish.

He went onto say that all they could do is continue to encourage the player and that he is convinced that he will turn it around and come good.

The Chronicle’s Newcastle United dedicated Twitter page shared the story, to which many fans responded pretty negatively.

Here are some of the replies below…

While the Magpies are sat in 13th and are seven points clear of the relegation zone, they still have a very important game against Crystal Palace tomorrow, a side with very similar goal problems.

The Eagles are the only team to have scored fewer goals in the league so far, and they are just one point behind, so one goal could well be enough. Joelinton will be hoping to repay the faith in his manager by grabbing one tomorrow.
