Lots of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by the Evening Standard, claiming the Magpies are ready to offer Danny Rose a route out of Tottenham Hotspur.

Rose has fallen out of favour in North London since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese leaving the 29-year-old out of his squad for the third match in succession as Spurs beat Norwich City 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Mourinho has now chosen to omit Rose from seven Premier League teamsheets since his appointment as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor in November, but denied having an altercation with the left-back for excluding him against Watford last Saturday.

A number of sides are considering approaching Spurs in a bid to sign Rose this month, with the Magpies now believed to be ready to forge a formal approach after reports suggested head coach Steve Bruce was mulling over a move.

Rose has been on Bruce’s radar since he first arrived at St. James’ Park, as the £60,000-per-week left-back was said to have been on the boss’ late window shortlist alongside Andy Carroll.

Bruce did not see the £18millin-rated full-back head to Tyneside like Carroll, and Rose has since made 16 outings for Spurs in all competitions though has only played 190 minutes in the Premier League under Mourinho.

It was previously suggested that Newcastle would request Rose on loan if we were to approach Tottenham, having lost Paul Dummett and on-loan Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Jetro Willems to season-ending injuries.

In other Newcastle United news, the club have been linked with a 26-year-old goalscoring machine.
