The Toon manager revealed that Emre has reacted in the right way to his substitution in last Sunday’s defeat by Aston Villa at Villa Park, but still our ‘insider’ at St James’ Park insists the Turk is on borrowed time and itching to get away.

The Turkish international doesn’t react well to substitution, and was hauled off at the start of the second half at Villa Park when it seemed he was looking to be sent-off. But Roeder got him off before the referee sent him off!

Roeder: ‘I made sure I spoke to Emre on Monday and he understands why I brought him off at Villa Park, and he has been very upbeat in training this week.

‘He is a big, big name in Turkey, but he is just one of the lads here and is committed in trying to bring Newcastle United some success. Normally he would have been back in Turkey this week preparing for Wednesday’s European Championship qualifier with Malta, but he is currently serving a six-match ban – although he tells me he is hoping to get this reduced by half.’
