Revealed – 53% Of Newcastle Fans Polled Don’t Think Our New No.9 Is Up To The Task

Salomon Rondon signed on season-long loan from West Brom last night, with Dwight Gayle moving in the other direction.

The Venezuelan international has been given the number nine shirt, but many fans are questioning whether he’ll be able to live up expectations.

When I asked fans whether the 28-year-old will be a good signing, a small majority thought we needed to sign a better player:

It’s not fair to judge before he is given a chance, but his goal record is a major cause of concern. With 28 goals in 108 appearances for West Brom, he wasn’t the most prolific, and he has gone long spells without scoring.

Of course, the fact he has been playing for a struggling team means he hasn’t been given many goalscoring opportunities, but it must be said, he wouldn’t have been very many supporters’ first choice.

Hopefully, with the support of Yoshinori Muto, the pair can give us some much-needed extra firepower this season.
