Report: Newcastle’s task of pleasing Rafa Benitez has been made a lot easier

|

Regardless of what it seems like on the outside, you’d like to think that Mike Ashley wants to keep Rafa Benitez at the club. He surely knows that he won’t find anyone better than the Spaniard, though at present, losing him is looking realistic. Indeed, a recent report from the Telegraph has suggested that unless Ashley provides Benitez with a few signings, the boss will leave at the end of the season.

This is pretty bad news for Newcastle, as with an owner that is doing little to help the cause, Benitez has been the only one keeping us afloat as of late.

Fortunately, Ashley has been given an extra hand in his efforts to keep Benitez, with the Chronicle Live reporting that a number of agents have contacted Newcastle with a view to offering them players. Dozens of players have apparently been offered to the club, and now it’s down to the recruitment team at Newcastle to find out whether any of them would be a good fit.

This means that Ashley has no excuses not to invest in the team, as potential targets have literally been handed to him on a silver platter.

Sure, they might not all be viable, but the reality is that the club need to take what they can get at present, as we desperately need a few new players. Not to mention, we’re seriously running out of time, with just days left to go.

We’re not just toying with the future of Benitez at this point. Rather, we’re toying with the future of Newcastle as a Premier League team, and if Ashley doesn’t invest in this side, he’ll find his team back in the Championship in no time.
