RB Leipzig forward Yussef Poulsen has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent days, but his agent is having none of it, it seems.

German outlet Bild had reported earlier this week that the Danish forward was looking for a way out at the club after failing to appear as much as he would have hoped during this season.

It was stated that while Leipzig wanted to hand onto the striker, they would be willing to allow him to leave if the right bid came along, something around £30m.

However, if the reports are true about the Magpies wanting the player, then they have been dealt a blow as his agent has come out and quashed all of the claims.

Speaking to the Danish outlet TV2 (via Sport Witness), agent Poul-Erik Petersen said:  “There’s nothing in this context that has anything to do even remotely with him,” the agent said.

“There has not been no such contact with the club. I can categorically reject it.”

“I can’t say it more clearly than Yussuf loves to be in Leipzig, and that’s basically what he feels. But if the situation is still the way it is, then it is logical that he will not be a ‘reserve of honour’.”

Would you pay £30m for Edouard?

It’s no exaggeration to say that Poulsen has to be considered a bit of a legend at the club. Considering that the team only established in May 2009, not a single player has recorded more games for the club, with the 25-year-old racking up 248 games.

From those games, he has been able to score 61 times and assist 49, mounting to 110 goal contributions from those games, representing a pretty impressive return.

Considering he is still reaching his peak as a footballer, you can see why Newcastle would be interested in him, even with just three goals to his name so far this season. Not only does his overall record suggest he can score goals, but that he can sets lots up as well – as 11 assists suggest – which would really suit the Magpies if they were to play long as he can hold the ball up so efficiently.

From 1701 minutes of football this season, Poulsen has 14 goal contributions; Joelinton, on the other hand, has had 2632 minutes but has only managed seven.
