Report: Newcastle moving to sign record-breaking wonderkid on dominant Euro giants’ radar

|

Newcastle United are moving to sign Pacos de Ferreira’s record-breaking wonderkid Matchoi Bobo Djalo in January, according to Football Insider.

The Toon have regularly sent scouts of watch the natural right-sided forward in action this season, and are keen to blow any competition out of the water should they try and make a swoop for his services in the winter market.

Everton and Juventus are both said to have shown an interest in Djalo of late, with the dominant Serie A giants and the Toffees understood to be presenting strong competition ahead of the mid-season window next month.

Djalo is contractually tied to Paco until the summer of 2022, although the Liga NOS minnows are anticipating a swarm of offers coming their way as sides look to snap up a player regarded as one of the best break-out attacking talents in Portugal.

He is also seen to have the hallmarks of a future senior Portugal international, having made his U17 debut in September, before earning his first start on the junior international stage last month when he helped his national side beat Albania 4-0 from a central midfield role.

Should we try and sign Matchoi Bobo Djalo?

Yes

No

Djalo is predominately a right-winger by trade, but earned his Liga NOS debut from the left-flank in August, when fielded by head coach Pedro Miguel Marques da Costa Filipe from the bench away to Portuguese top-flight giants SL Benfica.

In featuring on the road to Benfica, Djalo became the youngest-ever player to feature in the Portuguese top-flight, aged just 16-years and four-months.

The 5 ft 8 forward had made his senior Paco debut toward the end of last season by featuring against CS Maritimo in the Allianz Cup, but has not featured in any domestic competition since August, when he entered the action late on at home to CD Santa Clara.
