Newcastle United’s new prospective owners are currently working on bringing in a new manager and a director of football, according to reports.

Although official confirmation has not been made yet of any takeover, the consortium has wasted no time in making preparations for the extraordinary transformation that is set to take place at the Tyneside club.

A £300m bid was agreed by retail tycoon Mike Ashley back in April to sell the club to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), who would inherit 80% of the club’s shares.

According to Football Insider, Amanda Staveley’s PCP Partners have directed middlemen to identify suitable candidates that would be beneficial for the football club, in the role as the manager and a director of football.

Will PIF takeover the club?

Yes

No

No

The report backs up what Sky Sports previously said about former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, and that he was their number one priority to bring to the club.

This follows a report from L’Equipe that suggested Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos turned down a substantial offer to make the move from St James’ Park, a man who helped bring through some of Europe’s best players.

It seems like PIF and Staveley are not complicating their initial proceedings or wasting any time. The ambition to take us to the top has to be admired and will no doubt excite Newcastle United fans.

With the Premier League close to signing off the deal following intense scrutiny from officials, this could be the final hurdle that we may have to negotiate. Please Newcastle, just hurry up and announce it already.
