Newcastle United were relegated from the Premier League this evening after one of their worst displays in the entire season. None of the players seemed to care enough to get stuck in, or make a challenge, or close the opposition down, or hit a shot with any venom. As a result, Hull City deservedly remained in the league — let’s face it, they took the game to Manchester United, and should have at least got a draw for their effort.

The outcome of Newcastle United’s relegation is simple:

A massive clear-out of players. This will, among other things be a welcome development for the Toon Army.

This team, even if they stayed up this season, would have certainly gone down next year. So, its good that it came early. The suspense would have killed everyone.
