“Bruce wants to play a Championship striker in the PL” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are angry that Dwight Gayle will be featuring for Newcastle in the coming weeks.
Steve Bruce confirmed that Gayle would be involved in some way on Sunday as the Toon host Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bruce rates Gayle and has tried to sign him on numerous occasions, and after recovering from a niggling calf problem, the 29-year-old is ready to try and score goals in the Premier League.
The former Crystal Palace man is often seen as a Championship striker who can’t quite cut it in the top-flight.
A quick look at his goal record in both divisions proves that this is true.
However, it looks like he will be given the chance to finally prove that he can score goals in the Premier League.
These Newcastle fans, though, are not convinced Gayle is good enough.

Failed and Steve Bruce in a sentence is quite a regular occurrence

Some Toon supporters have used this post to lay into Bruce.
Gayle is no where near good enough for this standard numerous managers have realised he’s not premier League quality in saying that as a team we do not create enough chances for our strikers just proves how clueless Bruce is

He says this exact quote every time he mentions him, at some point he really should watch him or look at his stats…..that said hes light years ahead of the local PR exercise they stupidly signed

Bruce liking a Championship level striker and wanting to play him in future in the PL????
Rafa knew Gayle’s level he was signed to get us promoted he shouldn’t be starting 3 years on.
No wonder we’re going backwards as a club what happens when you appoint a Championship manager.

so we are relying on a player Benitez signed to get us out of the championship 3 years ago, then tried to move on following promotion? Happy for him and all that, but really highlights how we have failed to progress as a team.

Other Newcastle fans don’t think Gayle will do anything for them.
