Newcastle confirmed the worst fears earlier that Rafa Benitez will miss today’s away game at Swansea.

Rafa officially not being able to manage the whole thing that goes into managing from the sidelines with it’s physical need to get up and down off a seat and be basically animated so it’s understandable to that extent. The adrenaline may have kicked in and he could cause further damage.

Anyway, unofficially, this injury has been quite convenient.

Mostly convenient for the club with the emphasis taken off the lacklustre transfer window where several departments weren’t strengthened with the heat generally dying down the longer time goes on.

By the time Rafa next faces the cameras, which should be Thursday or Friday this week, it will have been a full two weeks since the transfer window has closed but focus will have mainly shifted onto speaking about his well being and focusing on the future.

Obviously the need to spend in January wont go away and it will be mentioned this week but all this delay feels quite convenient for the powers that be and the never-ending PR that surrounds them.
